Before starting class, each MODL MCT should download instructor materials from the MCT Download Center. These materials include: Instructor Slides, Instructor Notes, a copy of the MODL Student Workbook (in .PDF form), and Virtual Server Images for remote demos.

Following is a detailed description of each component included in the MODL MCT Download Center:

  • MODL Instructor Slides – MODL Instructor Slides and Instructor Notes are written to synergize objectives, modalities, interactions, and demonstrations for students and MCTs. Instructor Slides are developed from MOC (Microsoft Official Curriculum) objectives using a unique engagement-centric development paradigm. Each 2-Hour facilitated module consists of roughly 60 Microsoft PowerPoint slides delivered via LiveMeeting with approximately 35 interactions, 12 case studies, 5 demonstrations, and 2 media clips. For a detailed review of the MODL Instructor Slides and GEAR interaction types, browse to the “MCT: Get Started” section of this website. Check out a sample below.

  • MODL Instructor Notes – Detailed Instructor Notes guide MCTs through each interaction and emphasize student engagement. Instructor Notes are presented in a separate Microsoft Word document or using the “Notes” feature of Microsoft PowerPoint. These notes include answers to case studies, instructions for delivering interactions, and LiveMeeting management directions. View a sample of the MODL 2785 Instructor Notes in the graphic below.

  • MODL Student Workbooks – The MODL Student Workbook is written with approximately 35 interactions for every 2-hour facilitated module. This collaborative guide is more than a reference, it is a participation tool. The Interactive Student Workbook is written in collaboration with the MODL Instructor Slides and Instructor Notes. Each MODL activity is represented in the workbook with detailed student material and instructions. Student Workbooks are delivered to MCTs online in .PDF format.
  • Module Assessment Tests – Each GEAR cycle concludes with an objective-level, multiple-choice assessment test. Tests are delivered via Microsoft Excel using an automated scoring script. Students submit their answers to their MODL MCT every 1-2 days via E-Mail.
  • Virtual Server Images for Demos – each GEAR module includes 4-5 LIVE demonstrations. These demonstrations are delivered by the MCT via LiveMeeting using a local Virtual Server Image (i.e. running on the MCT’s workstation). The MODL MCT Download center includes a Virtual Server image for demonstrations within each MODL course.

I enjoyed it more than classroom based training. You are able to review previous lessons, scenarios, etc. at your own time and pace. No need to take a week off work to accomplish it.
