Q: Which customers would MODL appeal to most?

A: MODL provides a learning experience to customers who want the guidance and expertise of an instructor without attending consecutive days of training at a training center. MODL is ideal for customers and consultants who can’t afford to take time out of work to attend training. MODL also benefits Enterprise customers who have limited competent resources and travel budget — who need to train a geographically dispersed workforce.

Q: What is included in the MODL student kit?

A: Student workbook, e-learning voucher and Day in the Life scenario vouchers. Other components may be added on a course by course basis.

Q: How quickly can we get started with MODL?

A: Once your application is approved and your MCTs are authorized you can begin to offer classes immediately. This process typically takes on average 30 days. Visit https://partner.microsoft.com/global/program/competencies/40030028 to obtain a business application; or download directly from us … MODL Business Application.

Q: Do I have to deliver MODL in 5 Weeks?

A: MODL scheduling is very flexible. You can teach a 40-hour MODL course in 5 Days, 5 Weeks, or anything in between. MODL involves the completion of 40 hours in total time, but only 20 hours of actual MCT instruction. The remaining 20 hours is self –paced with scenarios and hands-on labs. This format allows for flexibility to offer the course in a manner that best fit the needs of the student participants as well as the resources of the CPLS. The choice is yours. To learn more about delivery options see “Delivery Best Practices” in the Deliver MODL section of this website.

Q: Why do my instructors need additional training (re-authorization) in MODL?

A: MCTs need to gain experience and prove competency facilitating interactions and delivering training via a distance learning environment.

Q: How much does the instructor training (re-authorization) cost?

A: For a limited time, the MCT authorization process is free of charge. Visit http://mct.llift.com to schedule your training.

Q: Are there Any MODL MCTs Available?

A: There are 200 MODL Authorized MCTs available. More than half of them are independent consultants. You can locate authorized MCTs at http://www.distancelearningtrainers.com (coming soon).

Q: What is the MCT prep time required for (G)ather sessions

A: MCTs should plan to spend one hour preparing for each (G)ather session. Activities include; scoring assessments, customizing slides, inserting demo shares, answering student questions and emails.

Q: How effective have the early deliveries been?

A: MODL “Metrics That Matter” (MTM) scores have been consistently higher than any other method. Currently, the scores are coming in at an average of around 9.5+/10 (although MTM is measured on a scale of 9 we have normalized on a 10 scale for ease of interpretation). In addition, MODL is getting nearly unanimous results regarding students’ highly positive opinions on recommending a MODL course to others.

Q: How is MODL positioned against ILT and e-Learning?

A: MODL blends online classroom training, live discussion, real-world-based scenarios, and self-directed study delivered to the customers’ desktop. MODL courses offer the flexibility to be taken over a period of days or weeks – whatever best suits the students needs. These courses also include e-Learning and/or other self-paced activities or components. E-Learning is strictly self-paced, without instructor guidance and student interaction.

Q: Who are the ideal target audiences for MODL?

A: MODL provides a learning experience to customers who want the guidance and expertise of an instructor without attending consecutive days of training at a training center. In addition, MODL is ideal for customers and consultants who can’t afford to take time out of work to attend typical 3-5 day classroom training. MODL also benefits Enterprise customers who have limited competent resources and travel budget — who need to train a geographically dispersed workforce.

Q: Recording Live Sessions is a MODL recommendation. Can I resell this recording for additional business opportunities?

A: Given the nature of privacy, we recommend that live recordings of the synchronous classes be used only for class review by the individuals within that class. If Learning Solutions partners want to use them as part of a sales activity or as part of a model used in delivering training incorporating video and other recordings, we advise obtaining permission from each student and the instructor before releasing in any public manner.

Q: What marketing guidance and tools are available?

A: Visit the CPLS Secure site for datasheets, web banners, sales presentations and more. https://partner.microsoft.com/global/program/competencies/40029098 To learn more about available MODL marketing tools check out the “Step 2: SELL, SELL, SELL” page in the DELIVER MODL section of this website.

Q: How do customers choose between MOC and MODL courses if both are offered for the same course?

A: Based on your customer’s needs, MODL offers schedule flexibility and can be delivered at your customer’s desktop, eliminating travel expenses.

Q. Customers want to know why is the price for a Microsoft Official Distance Learning course the same price as an instructor-led classroom course.

A: MODL offers increased student engagement and greater schedule flexibility, while delivering high quality content in a variety of modalities. MODL courses cover the same learning objectives and duration as MOC.

Q: Many of our students feel that they are “entitled” to instructor-led classroom training and enjoy attending consecutive days of training at a training center.

A: MODL training is ideal for people who aren’t able to take time off of work to attend training, or who can’t travel to attend training. MODL also appeals to students who prefer a combination of instructor facilitation and self-paced learning. If your customers are happy with the classic instructor-led classroom training, MODL is not necessarily an ideal fit for them.

Q: What are future plans for localization?

A: Localization of MODL will depend on regional pilots and uptake potential within each region. Initial regional pilots have been successful using English language content with local language instruction. This is largely due to the flexibility of the design and authorized MCT which enables the use of English content while running live sessions in native language.

We have reviewed and deployed many modalities for delivering IT learning for remote customers. MODL balances the workplace demands and time constraints of typical IT professionals while adhering to adult learning theory. We’re excited to add it to our list of services for our customers and expect it to deliver far more value and learning retention than other modalities we’ve tried.
