Any Learning Solutions partner who wants to offer MODL courses must submit a Distance Learning business plan to dlcourse@microsoft.com for review. Upon approval of the business plan, you will be able to order MODL course materials using the same current distribution channels that you use today.

You can download the MODL application from the CPLS secure site or from the link below:

The goal of the business plan is to establish your strategy for sales and delivery of MODL courses. In addition, Microsoft Learning is interested in a description of your target market and a 3-year sales forecast. The MODL Business Plan should include the following (see figure below):

  • A detailed outline of a sales plan to launch Distance Learning courses
  • A description of the target market – what customer profile do you want to target?
  • A forecast of Distance Learning course units for Years 1 through 3 based on the initial 12 courses
  • A description of the implementation plan including:
    • Synchronous delivery capability
    • Course portal development plan
  • A trainer endorsement and instructor utilization plan
  • A business plan that includes point of contact information for follow-up by MSL

MODL courseware is currently available in North America and Western EMEA. Pilots are currently underway in APAC and LATAM. MSL’s goals for pilots are:

  • Identify cultural best practices for the delivery of (G)ATHER sessions.
  • Understand cultural adoption and requirements for a virtual classroom experience.
  • Address infrastructure issues with a synchronous learning experience.
  • Optimize business model best practices within the region.
  • Capture localization requirements.

Microsoft Official Distance Learning is not just an instructor sharing information remotely across the website; it is also the added ingredient of the scenarios, which we think has huge incremental value. These scenarios are done by the students without the instructor present. This exciting new methodology is unlike anything that has been used in the traditional classroom setting.
